Destiny By Design

Destiny by design & Citzen Schools focus on using hip hop to develop culture and career opportunites in the youth. In the Fall of 2008  Jules Narcisse & Robert Gabriel along with local Ausint Djs, producers, and rappers taught a class at Kealing Middle school about Hip Hop history, style and technique.  This video is a mini-documentary chronicling the time they spent learning about hip hop culture, developing their individual talents and style, and their big performance.
I personally think its a really refreshing look at the things Hip Hop can do  when put to a constructive purpose. Not to say that Hip-Hop hasn’t done millions of positive things for communites all across the globe, just that this is another great example. Plus its really inspiring to see the kids being so inspired as they learn about their persoanl talents! One of my favorite parts is at 3:15, where the kids are freestyling and beatboxing at the table; lol it gives me flashbacks to 9th grade lunch!!

Gotta Loft in..AUSTIN

So, a little birdie told me during SXSW that Kanye supposedly bought a place in Austin but i passed it off as hearsay until my brother showed me this verse ’Ye dropped on Rick Ross’s Maybach Music 2 at about 1:22 sec’s in.  
“New crib-LOFT IN- where its at-AUSTIN-where is that-Texas!!!”
Pretty self explanatory eh? After doing some more reasearch i realised its also the same verse he chose to freestyle during the cypher session him, Common, and Erykah Badu dropped during their SXSW show at the Fader Fort.
So there you have it. Kanye West’s got a place in Austin.  So dont be surprised if you see him pop in and out of your favorite downtown hot spot or eating at Uchi with his bald but still amazingly bangin girlfriend Amber Rose. 
Dont know who she is yet? Google it. I dare ya. And type in the words “Smooth Magazine” also…just make sure your not on a work computer cus the results are definately NSFW..LOL

SXSW Wrap Up

So SXSW  has come and gone once again.
All the hipsters have gone back to work at American Apparel, all the sponsors have moved on to Coachella,  and you’ve finally  gotten that last bit of crusty tear drops out of your eyes from missing the
Kanye West /everybodyelsewhoseverbeenononeofhisalbumsortracks Show.

Spring = Mixtape Mania

Just thought i’d throw this out to ya’ll….

Ive noticed recently a HUGE amount of mixtapes dropping pretty soon, and I for one am not complaining. Mixtapes mean free music, new music, and often music thats more experimental than regualar LP’s. Off the top of my head i know Feddi Man told me hew was dropping one (when doesn’t that boy have a new mixtape dropping?? lol) of course Modern Man has got that hot new one, and ive been hearing  randomly about a slew of other ones.

Modern Man will be having a cd/mixtape release party. Backed up by DJ Flo-Rock,  with Jericho One manning the decks downstairs…it should be one hell of a show!
